Prayer

Prayer

“Nay” says the sayer

“I don’t partake in prayer”

Meanwhile

They are volatile, venomous and vile

“Nay” says the sayer

“I don’t believe in prayer”

They’re off

They’d rather scrape, scrounge and scoff

“Nay” says the sayer

“I don’t depend on prayer”

They’re mistaken

They’ve been tantalized, tholed and taken

“Nay” says the sayer

They ask “Why do you believe in prayer?”

I respond with a simple nod,

“It’s the only way I know to talk with God.”

I don’t look at prayer as a wish list

I don’t look at prayer as a demand

Rather

I look at prayer as my expressions placed into Gods hand

When I pray I do it wholeheartedly

When I pray I try to be quiet and still

But most importantly

When I pray I ALWAYS end with “if it is God’s will”

That’s the main thing I want God to hear from me

That’s the one notion that helps me feel God is near to me

That in the quiet still

I pray that I may be drawn to do only God’s will

For me
